What Is The Difference Between Sateen And Satin Sheets?

Well this is a common question. We were also a bit frustrated at the beginning as those two sounds and look so similar.
However they do differ. Although they both made by using the similar weaving technique (of weaving four threads over, and one under as opposed to the traditional one over, one under) in order to make them shiny, soft and smooth, but their origin is completely different.
Sateen is made from 100% cotton or rayon.
Satin is made from different material. It used to be made from silk but nowadays it is more common to find it made from nylon or polyester (so the shining effect would be stronger)
To Conclude:

Weaving technique is the same for both: Sateen and Satin, however these features differ:
Origin Of Sateen And Satin:

a) Sateen=cotton,
b) Satin= silk, nylon, polyester (or any mixture between those)

Durability Of Sateen Vs Satin:

a) Sateen=more durable,
b) Satin= less durable

Cleaning Sateen Vs Satin:

a) Sateen= san be washed with washing machine,
b) Satin= should not be washed
